    SELF-PROPELLED GUNS

T28 SUPER HEAVY TANK/T95 105MM GUN MOTOR CARRIAGE
NATIONAL ARMOR AND CAVALRY MUSEUM, FORT BENNING, GA.

Initially designed as a heavy tank, T28 did not have its armament in a revolving turret. That fact promt the Ordnance to request a name change to "105 mm Gun Motor Carriage T95"; the change became official in March, 1945. However, due to its heavy armor and armament it was renamed "Super Heavy Tank T28" in June 1946 by OCM 37058.
The vehicle in the photos is the only remaining example, formerly exhibited at the Patton Museum of Cavalry and Armor in Kentucky. Since 2011, it is on display at National Armor and Cavalry Museum, Fort Benning, Georgia.

Due to the true nature of this vehicle, it was placed into the SPG category in our walkarounds.
